Like many other industries, the healthcare marketing landscape has changed drastically in 2020. At IGNIFI there has been a fast pivot as our healthcare clients quickly adapted to a new, more virtual, way of working. In practical terms, what we have been experiencing from clients is both an increased demand for our services along with a particular interest in our digital expertise as healthcare companies rush to keep up with the rapid acceleration in digital transformation.
To prepare for these new industry demands, it quickly became clear that along with bolstering our team in areas such as design and client services, to set us apart from our competitors and adapt to the post-2020 landscape, it was important to expand our digital capability.
Along with ensuring we have the most up to date and thorough advice available to our clients, it’s also important that internally, IGNIFI as a company is at the forefront of these new developments. Whether it’s through an impactful website or engaging marketing campaigns, we need to keep our own materials to the high standards that we would provide for our clients.
With that in mind we created the role of Digital Engagement Manager. Internally this person would be responsible for managing our online presence and working with our Health Science Content writer to boost our social media presence and oversee our content marketing strategy. Externally, they would form part of the IGNIFI digital team who support clients to drive forward their digital activities.
We found that the ideal candidate to fill this role was certified digital marketer Laura Smith. Laura joins us with over 13 years of marketing experience gained in a variety of professional service firms.

For seven years, Laura worked as a freelance marketing consultant, gaining experience with a variety of clients from established B2B professional firms to smaller start-up businesses. This has given her a wealth of experience in creating successful marketing campaigns using a variety of techniques and strategies including content, email, and social media marketing supported by her extensive marketing analytics knowledge.
Laura’s most recent role before joining us was Head of Marketing at Acritas, now part of Thomas Reuters. This was a leadership role that involved coordinating a team of marketers to deliver international digital marketing campaigns along with acting as the main contact point for press enquiries, writing and distributing press releases globally.
