In 2021, IGNIFI participated in our first EcoVadis assessment to give us an accurate measure of our sustainability performance overall as a business. We scored 55 out of 100 points which meant we were awarded a silver rating. We are thrilled to announce that for 2022 IGNIFI have retained our silver EcoVadis rating but have also been able to improve our score by 6 points and totalled 61 points out of 100 for 2022.
In our latest blog, we’re discussing how we have improved our score and the benefits of committing to a sustainability assessment for IGNIFI and those working with us.
What is an EcoVadis evaluation?
The EcoVadis evaluation process comprehensively assesses the sustainability performance of an organisation under four key themes which includes:
- Environment
- Labour and Human Rights
- Ethics
- Sustainable Procurement
As part of the assessment, EcoVadis independently reviews responses and supporting evidence to more than 150 questions and then provides an annual rating on this. EcoVadis is the global leading supplier of business sustainability ratings and intelligence with over 90,000 organisations rated on its platform in 2021. Businesses of all sizes use EcoVadis to monitor and improve their sustainability performance and it’s becoming increasingly popular within our sector and used by many of our healthcare client’s procurement teams to assess potential suppliers.
What was our EcoVadis score for 2022?
We have retained our Silver EcoVadis Medal for 2022 but have improved our score by 6 points since our last assessment. This places us in the top 18% of companies in our industry for sustainability.
The breakdown of our scores shown above demonstrates we scored above average in 3 out of the 4 subcategories. Our improvements from our 2021 score have come in both the environment, and labour and human rights themes where we have improved by 10 points in each of these two subcategories.
Our dashboard graphs below also show how we have performed against others in our industry overall and by subcategory. This has highlighted our practices and policies concerned with labour and human rights are considered ‘outstanding’ compared to others in the same industry, something we are particularly proud of.
The breakdown of scoring has helped draw attention to not only where we are performing well but areas to build on for the future and we are already looking to address areas where we can improve our scores through reviewing current practices and policies. This applies specifically to the sustainable procurement category, an area where many others in our industry tend to be scoring slightly lower in their rating too.
What does this mean for our clients and partners?
Increasingly more organisations are making a conscious effort through their ESG initiatives not just to be more environmentally sustainable but also to be more transparent and active to promote improved ethical practices across business areas. This not only applies to their own organisation but also ensuring the companies and suppliers they partner with are also sustainable and ethical. Procurement teams are particularly interested in this information and the EcoVadis rating is a widely recognised rating to demonstrate sustainability performance.
Our EcoVadis rating can be accessed by trading partners via a request mechanism. It provides the requesting partner with a trusted assessment of our company sustainability performance while providing IGNIFI with an opportunity to show leadership within healthcare marketing communications, alignment with global best practices and the implementation of sustainability management systems that go beyond compliance.
EcoVadis data has shown that companies that have been assessed by EcoVadis at least three times have grown their sustainability management practices at an above-average rate and shown year-on-year improvement across sustainability themes. This is something we are particularly keen on committing to at IGNIFI and aiming for our 2023 score to improve on in our next assessment.
