Recruitment in 2020 – introducing Rudy

2020 has brought many challenges – and opened up some exciting opportunities for IGNIFI. One of which was the appointment of our latest teammate, IGNIFI’s new Medical Copywriter, Rudy Sarmah.

Rudy joins us with a strong scientific background including degrees in biochemistry and medical sciences and 10 years of medical writing experience gained in both medical education and advertising agencies.

Using his experience working on key accounts for a number of well-known pharma companies, Rudy will be helping to create and edit much of the scientific content behind the marketing campaigns here at IGNIFI.

Although Rudy is settling in nicely, this is a brand-new experience for us all. Not only has Rudy’s introduction to the team been on a working from home basis, he is also IGNIFI’s first full-time remote working employee.

While initially looking for a copywriter to work from our Sunderland office, a few weeks of our whole workforce working from home lead to us broadening our thinking and widen the search criteria. This opened up the opportunity to Rudy, who lives in Kent.

Before coronavirus, while we recruited nationally, we typically brought new recruits into HQ, believing that our team would be most effective if they were all in one building. Now we’re adjusting that mindset and while we do enjoy seeing each other in person every day, the movement towards online working has proven that we can be just as effective and efficient working remotely.

Utilising the simple addition of Microsoft Teams and some minor adjustments to our everyday routines – which we had implemented anyway – Rudy has been able to integrate fully and become an integral part of the IGNIFI team in the relatively short time he has been with us.

This marks an exciting moment going forward for IGNIFI, creating increased potential for team expansion. With the addition of Rudy and a few months’ experience of the new work dynamic under our belts, we now feel confident in our ability to integrate at-home working into our company and are considering applicants from an even wider talent pool who can work remotely for certain roles going forward.
