IGNIFI Account executive intern Eleanor Gratton

To start off 2021, we are welcoming another new face to the business. Here we introduce you to Eleanor Gratton, our new Account Executive Intern and discuss why creating an internship position was the right move for us.

Why did we introduce this internship?

Expanding our digital expertise is something we have invested heavily in for 2021, so we can support our healthcare clients with their digital transformations and the challenges that come from a new more virtual way of working.

At the heart of our plans for the year ahead is still our core value of exceptional customer service and focus, which is why we are starting the year by expanding our Client Services team with an intern position.

Why did we choose Eleanor?

Eleanor first reached out to us last summer before the position was even advertised. She was keen to work at IGNIFI after researching us due to our positioning as a creative healthcare marketing agency that places a strong emphasis on in-house design capabilities.

She is a recent Biomedical Science graduate from Newcastle University who, during her degree, worked as an editor for the science section of her student newspaper. This gave her experience in how to communicate science in an engaging and informative way, alongside using design software such as InDesign.

Since graduating, Eleanor has been working as a Marketing and Communications Administrative Assistant for Bradford District Care NHS Foundation Trust. Here she was able to develop her marketing skills along with gaining experience liaising with clients and working in a healthcare environment.

After the interview process, it became clear to us that Eleanor was the right person for the internship. Alongside her obvious enthusiasm and drive, the main thing that drew us to Eleanor was her background in both marketing and health sciences.

What will this role involve?

As an Account Executive, Eleanor’s primary responsibility will be to support our existing Account Managers whilst gaining an insight into all our healthcare client accounts. Day to day tasks within this role will be in project management, digital design, and creative projects. This will include liaising with both internal and external suppliers and also clients.

Our hope is that this role will both provide additional support for the existing Client Services Team, while supporting Eleanor with her professional development by exposing her to all elements of our business.

“I’m really excited to be joining the IGNIFI team and having the opportunity to work with a range of clients to combine my passion for healthcare and marketing. The team have already been so kind and welcoming. I’m looking forward to kick-starting my marketing career and developing my skills even further. I can’t wait to see where the role will take me.”

What are the benefits of internships and entry-level positions?

While there are definitely times when extensive experience is needed for a position and it works best to hire a candidate that possesses that experience, internships come with very clear advantages.

From the applicant’s standpoint, the obvious benefits include a path into the industry, which can be a lifeline for recent graduates. However, once in the role, they will have access to training from the start, allowing them to get to grips with the industry and gradually take on more responsibilities.

In return, the company providing the internship will gain an employee with the most up-to-date education in their field and an enthusiasm to learn. Providing the core knowledge is there, experience can be gained through a clear development plan set out from the start and tailored to the specific job role.

“Following prior successes with internships, we are delighted to welcome Eleanor to the team and support her further development. Eleanor’s skills, interests and enthusiasm very much align with our strategic direction and ethos as a company, making her a great asset to the client services team as we move forward. “
